I just got a Clara HD and I can't believe how much I enjoy the comfortlight option. I heard reports of uneven lighting but the lighting on mine is even, and really pleasant to use. I find myself using comfortlight even in the day, because it's just easier on the eyes. When I read at night, it doesn't hurt my eyes.
Anyone else?

I bought a Kobo Aura One when they first came out. I admit, it's great to read on. But they really just keep finding new ways to make the firmware worse with every new "update". I installed the newest one, which I haven't done in a long time, only to find they put the chapter as the header and the book as the footer. That's terrible, so I tried rolling back to an earlier firmware, but now Calibre is saying that is doesn't recognize that firmware, and Windows 7 (which is also complete s**t) only has a 25% chance of recognizing the reader, a 25% chance of telling my I have to scan for errors and a 50% chance of telling me I have to format it to use it.
I said screw it, and did a complete restore to put it back to factory new. The very first thing I had to do after setting the time is connect it either over WiFi, or to install their software that I don't want. I connected over WiFi, which I had no option to avoid, and the very first thing this garbage thing does is download and install the latest firmware against my wishes.
I would
never get another Kobo device.
Oh, good... it's back. I think I'll smash it with a hammer.

Calibre stopped supporting Windows 7 a while ago, so I have to use an older version. Because of that, I now get a error that Calibre doesn't recognize this new firmware that I was forced to install.
Done.

I know series information form the Series column can be upload to the Kobo. But is there any way for Tags to be uploaded as series when there is nothing in Series?

a few months ago I bought an 8-gigabyte Kobo Forma and have been quite happy with it. However with so many books on it, I'm close to reaching the capacity. I have a strange case of buyer's remorse. I wish I got the 32GB Kobo Forma instead. I am currently at a store and I asked a customer service agent what could be done about my plight, and they said they can't do anything at the store and suggested I contact rakuten.
Does anybody know what rakuten can do for people in my shoes? My Kobo Forma is in excellent condition I even got a case for it.

I have a KA1
An ebook of mine has the following html code:
Code:
<div class="example">
<pre class="example"> --- --- --- --- --- ---
| | |--> | | |--> | | |--> nil
--- --- --- --- --- ---
| | |
| | |
--> rose --> violet --> buttercup
</pre></div>
with the following css code
Code:
div.example {
margin-left: 3.2em;
font-family: monospace;
}
pre.example {
font-family: monospace;
}
That code is rendered exactly by the calibre viewer, as you can see in the images
Attachment 174726
Attachment 174727
but is poorly rendered by the aura one: as you can see the "monospace" attribute is lost
Attachment 174724
Attachment 174725
Is there something to do to solve this problem?

I am having some weird issue with the covers of the books I purchased on Kobo.com since yesterday. Of all the 30 books I have bought, there are like 20 that stopped displaying the cover. The thing is that this happens in my Ereader and also in the desktop app so I do not have any idea about the cause.
What I tried so far?: I repaired my account, deleted and downloaded the books again, did a full factory reset to the Ereader, etc. But as you see the problem persist in the desktop app as well. I tried also using the phone app and IT WORKS properly on it. Also, if I go to the website and go to my account I can see my books with the cover without any problem.
Just to clarify, this only happens with most of the books I purchased on Kobo, but the ones I get from somewhere else works as expected, so this must be something to do with Kobo.
This is the first time I experience this issue and it all started when yesterday I bought a book and the cover was missing on my Ereader, then I sign out and sign in to check and now were even more books with the issue.
Any ideas will be appreciated.

After a long hiatus, I'm back to reading on an ereader. I've had an Aura HD for several years (bought almost brand new here in early 2014, thanks again Jen!). Anyway, I see that the newer models will work with Overdrive, so I'm looking at upgrading.
Of the three current models, Clara, Libra, and Forma, which would you recommend and why?
Thanks for your help!

I wanted to transfer some fonts, mainly the Kobo Nickel, from the main OS to KOreader. Is there a way to extract it or find it in the main directory? I can't find it in the hidden folders or anywhere from a google search. Seems it is not open source. Is there no way to get it outside of the Nickel OS?

I am considering buying an H2O. I currently read on an iPad mini using Marvin as the reading app. I prefer reading in night mode, white text on a black background is this possible on the H2O?

I thought I would separate this to a thread on it's own in case someone has a mod for this.
Although 32Gb is probably enough for most people. What if you bought the lesser storage model and realized it wasn't enough. It would be great to mod the new kobo's to have an external card slot.
So my idea, attach an empty micro sd adapter slot to the existing micro usb memory. Now I don't know if you can just attach two 8Gb sd cards and get 16Gb's out of it, or attach a 32Gb to the 8Gb and get 40Gb's. Maybe you can, I've never done it.
Maybe this hub solution will give some ideas
https://petapixel.com/2017/10/03/put...d-card-hub-50/
But at least then we'd have a slot to insert extra memory cards and books on our new kobos. This would of course require us to open up the kobo and void the warranty.
But the idea is to cut a hole in the side so we can install one of these
https://www.digikey.ca/product-detai...SABEgJSlvD_BwE for the addition of extra memory cards.

If ebook(s) have been loaded to the Kobo by Calibre or by side-loading, are they wiped out by syncing with kobo.com?

Now that Tolino has released a new, low-end Page 2 (with front-light and 8 GBs of storage instead of 4) do you think Kobo will update their Aura 2's to match the Tolino Page 2's hardware? Not only does the Page 2 have 8Gbs of storage, but they've changed the Page 2 to look almost like a Clara, instead of like the older style Kobos, with the blue switch on the back. I'm guessing probably not, since the Aura 2 still outshines the Kindle Basic hardware spec-wise, 212dpi vs 167dpi screen, but it would be interesting to see what they do.
And if they did come out with Tolino Page 2-like "Aura 3," would Walmart still sell the $70 "special edition" Aura 2?

I think everyone should send a message to Kobo on
www.kobo.com, using the feedback button on the right of the screen. Mainly about adding the sd card slot back into kobo's and about releasing a kobo mini 2.

Hello mates,
I have a Kobo Touch N905B e-reader from 2012 or 2013 with a 4 GB memory. When I was trying to update it in 2017 it shut off and never turned on again. After a little tinkering I let it go. This week I wanted to have a go at trying to revive it. However, no matter what I did, It wouldn't boot. I got a black blank screen. I tried soft reset, hard reset. When these didn't work. I kind of figured that its image might have become corrupted. I flashed N905B image to original micro sd card via Win32DiskImager (thanks to @davidfor from the forum). Then, I put the micro sd car back in the device and now I get a blinking green light and black blank screen.
Do you guys have any idea about how I can repair my device. Also the battery probably must have been drained during idle years. Could this be the reason for not booting up even after I flashed the image? :help:
Thank you for your help.

I'm wondering if it's about time for a revamped Kobo Forma, one to replace the one year-old device with the 'Dreaded Line of Light' issue.
The new one would be....oh, $30 or so less expensive...and have no 'Dreaded Line of Light' playing games with one's mind. I may have to wait for the new one, due probably right after Christmas or on Mother's Day :D
Any thoughts from the wise and the not-so-wise?

Since a week or two, sometimes my Kobo Clara HD battery will suddenly drain from ~90% to ~10% overnight while Im not using it. It doesnt happen every time but it does happen at least once a week.
I use my Clara regularly and normally only charge it when its below 50%.
Any idea what is happening?

I bought my Libra H2O a few months ago. One of the things I was looking forward to the most was reading my backlog of comic books purchased through Humble Bundle. Much to my disappointment, most of the .cbz files I attempted to open would trigger an error saying that the file was corrupted.
I found the solution to this problem a few days ago, and came here to share! It turns out that .cbz files are nothing more than a .zip file containing an image for every page. Page arrangement works based on the alphabetic sort order of each image's file name. To get a large .cbz file to open, you need to reduce the file size of the embedded pages. In every case I've tried, simply resizing pages to fit within the Libra's screen without scaling is enough. I set them to gray-scale at the same time. The end result is that I am finally able to open these files. Even .cbz files that opened previously are able to turn pages faster.

I applied successfully the latest completed patches to my Libra, but when I used the same koboroot file on the H2o2 v1, as I did successfully with the earlier version of the patches for 4.18, I had a problem: the moving 3 dots without cease.
I tried a very long press to stop it, which it did (with the most recent state of the 3 dots), but when I restarted the reader the 3 moving dots started again.
The 3rd time I tried, there was a grey see-through horizontal bar above the dots (same width), and when I restarted I had a black screen with a drawing of the reader with an exclamation point in a triangle above a rectangle with a round arrow.
Any idea how I can get out of that? The reader's two years guarantee fell 2 months ago.

Hi everyone,
I have a Kobo Glo for 4 months and I was very happy with my e-book. But the other day, suddenly, it starts to turn off and turn on all time.
So I thought that it was problem of the software and did a factory reset (I shouldn't have done it) and I think that during the process the e-book turned off by itself, the screen went white and now i can't turn on the dispositive :(
I have tried the guides in this forum, I have tried to put and img in the internal SD card but this does nothing. I have tried with a Kobo Aura image because i can't find a Kobo Glo image.
Could any of you send me a correct image (.img) for Kobo Glo? I would like to try with an image for my e-book.
I will also appreciate advice on how to solve the problem.
Thank you very much in advance!
