Screen has poor contrast

Hi i recently took out my kobo glo after hiding it in a corner for a couple of months. It had the low battery screen but the contrast was very bad. Not the screen is very dim and the black ink is barely visible. The kobo wasn't applied with pressure and I did a firmware reset and update. Any ideas? Many thanks in advance.
