(Sorry if there are already threads on this - I found a couple before joining the forums but they were pretty old).
Been using my Touch a lot since getting it this past Christmas - free books and paid books from the Kobo site, as well as a few library books with help of Adobe Digital Editions. (And one web article via an online epub converter).
Tonight I turned on my Touch & got the "Error" or "Factory Restart" (or however it reads) dreaded message. I was prompted to register my Touch just like I had when I first got it, which I did wirelessly. (Had to update and restart 3 times). Finally I was prompted to sync up with my Kobo account which went smoothly, so at least books I bought from Kobo have not been lost.
Library books are a different story because when I sent them back to my Touch from Adobe Digital and tried to open them, their covers were blacked out and I got the "Oops you are not authorized to read this content" message :( From what I've read on the net, I have to wait until the library book expires (2 weeks or something) and then re-download :(
This sucks because not only have I lost all my annotations from the library books, now have to wait weeks to even read them again on my Touch!
I know unintentional factory restarts have been a problem since this device was released - any good news or tips on that front lately? It's a major drag & if I hadn't been at home where I keep various passwords I wouldn't have been able to get my Touch going again and synced with Kobo. #greatcauseforconcern
