I was searching for a way to enable USB tethering in android so as to use my glo as monitor at night using vnc and since kvncviewer support just 1bit as I think.
I've found a temporary solution for USB tethering by compiling kernel without Android usb gadget and enabling CDC ethernet, so you will lose adb and storage mode, but I will try to patch the code to get proper solution. :D
Unlike vnc through wifi, vnc through usb is very usable.
I use x11vnc server, high contrast theme, set saturation to 0 in window manager, high contrast extension, enabling grayscale by default in google chrome, and bvnc in the glo.
the kernel to flash.

finally I can work on computer at night without hurting my sleep quality.
